Mika Mukarami, the Japanese artist, winner of the eighth edition of painting of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Granada, ensures that the best thing that has been given to our land is knowing how to live with joy, but by her behavior and her actions gives the impression that she is one of those people who, since childhood, felt good to those around her thanks to the energy given off.
Mika is almost Granada, at least in heart, as she has been about ten years with us, and has won the award with her work 'Do not stop the rain until the pond overflows with memories. 'The title is very beautiful, I was given it by a writer friend of mine", she says.
Made with a mixed technique, the etching shows a boat full of memories to navigate backwards in time. The boats are one of the favorite topics of the artist, who also used them in the room that the hotel has decorated the Pilgrims, on the poem 'Ithaca'. In addition to the reminiscences of the Japanese title, etching also has something to remember the delicate art of design in their home country. "I have not lost my roots as much as I like Grenada, people and festivals, the sun so strong and the landscape."
The news of her prize, the pride and joy. "I have just returned from France where I have been in a symposium and carving some stones and I'm happy."
Comforting
Mika has her studio in the Puente de los Vados, in the same place as so many artists from Granada. Madruga lot lately to work, and feels more comfortable and relaxed than newcomers to Granada. "I think I have clarified my thinking and that is comforting."
One of the reasons that she is excited by this award is that the jury was chaired by Cayetano Anibal. "His last exhibition at Gran Capitán was wonderful, romantic, filled with stories and love of life." I respect what Granada means to its artists, Mika thinks. "I think the people of Granada love art."
The finalists of the last edition of this award, which has submitted a total of 133 works have been Juan Guillermo Garcés continue with the work 'Fish' and Carratalá Pascual López with 'Palafitos Pucate river. In addition, the jury has selected a total of 43 works for the public exhibition which opened its doors yesterday at the Cultural Center Great Captain.
Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tokyo Joshi, Mukarami obtained the degree of specialization in the Faculty of Fine Arts in Granada, wheres he also holds an undergraduate degree in Advanced Studies.
